All 11 seasons of the original The Walking Dead arrive on AMC+ on January 7, 2027. AMC announced the catalog addition at New York Comic Con on October 9. The flagship series comprises 177 episodes.

The announcement gives January 7 without a year in its headline, but explicitly places the arrival in the new year. In this October 2026 announcement, that means January 7, 2027.

The original series began on AMC in October 2010 and concluded in November 2022. January’s addition concerns that completed run, rather than a newly commissioned twelfth season.

Original series versus the wider collection

AMC describes this as the original show’s first complete arrival on AMC+. It is not a claim that the series has never streamed elsewhere.

The series joins the service’s existing Walking Dead Universe Collection. AMC cites 371 episodes across the original and six spinoffs in the announced collection; 371 is not the flagship’s episode count. Treat it as the collection total given with this announcement, rather than a permanent number as more episodes premiere.

Six spinoff series named by AMC
Fear the Walking Dead
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon
The Walking Dead: Dead City
The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live
The Walking Dead: World Beyond
Tales of the Walking Dead

For a newcomer, the important distinction is between choosing the original series and choosing a franchise collection. The collection’s size does not mean all its stories are part of the original eleven-season run. It also does not establish that release order and story chronology are identical.

What about viewers outside the US?

This is an AMC+ catalog announcement, not a worldwide transfer of streaming rights. AMC’s release does not spell out a territory-by-territory rollout or confirm Sweden. Viewers outside the US should check the listing supplied by their local licensed service before making subscription plans around January 7.

The news also provides no verified Netflix or Hulu removal date. Arrival on one service does not, by itself, prove departure from another, and a title’s availability can differ between markets.

No new price, trial offer, language-track guarantee or 4K specification is established here. Those are separate subscription and catalog details, rather than consequences of the complete-series announcement.

Daryl Dixon’s final season follows in February

AMC’s separate NYCC recap places The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 4 in February 2027. It is the show’s final season; an exact premiere day has not been announced in that update.

That is a new-season release, distinct from January’s catalog arrival. Our earlier Daryl Dixon teaser report covers the September preview and Jimmy Smits casting; its broad 2027 window predates this February announcement.
