Mythic Achievements are Xbox’s new completion marker for games whose original achievement list you have finished. Xbox introduced the feature on September 29 as an early look for Xbox Insiders. Achievements added later through DLC or updates do not count toward earning a Mythic, and Microsoft has not announced a date for wider availability.

How Do You Earn a Mythic Achievement?

Complete every achievement in a game’s original list. The distinction matters: “100% of every achievement currently attached to the game” could include later additions, but Xbox says those add-on achievements are excluded from the Mythic requirement.

Once earned, Mythic status stays on your record. If a developer adds another expansion or update with new achievements, you do not lose the marker. Xbox does not present a separate Gamerscore value for the Mythic in its announcement, so there is no announced point total to add here.

Do Old Completions and Xbox 360 Games Count?

Yes, eligible past completions are recognized retroactively. Xbox says Mythics have already been applied to qualifying games players completed before the feature appeared, including eligible Xbox 360 titles. That does not mean every Xbox 360 game automatically qualifies; the original achievement list still has to be completed, and eligibility belongs to the individual game.

Players in the Insider rollout may find existing Mythics when they open their updated profile. Everyone else must wait for broader access rather than assuming the new display is already active on their account.

What Changed in the Xbox Interface?

The updated profile has a Gaming tab for achievements, completed games and progress toward the next Gamerscore milestone badge. It also shows Mythic totals, and players can view friends’ Gaming tabs. On a game’s achievement page, a progress bar shows how close the original list is to completion. Later additions are marked as add-on, making the requirement clearer without a separate checklist.

Xbox says similar progress information appears in the Guide and Achievement details. These interface changes are part of the current Insider preview and may evolve as Microsoft gathers feedback.

Is This Xbox’s Platinum Trophy?

Mythic fills a similar completion-recognition role to PlayStation’s Platinum Trophy. The systems should not be treated as mechanically identical: Xbox’s published rule is specifically about the game’s original achievements, with later DLC and update achievements excluded.

For now, the key answers are: Insiders first; original achievements only; eligible old completions count; later DLC cannot take a Mythic away. Xbox has not given a public rollout date.
