Ascendance of a Bookworm is continuing with a new TV anime adapting Part 4, the Royal Academy arc, and WIT Studio is returning. The official anime site announced the sequel on October 3, 2026, following the conclusion of Adopted Daughter of an Archduke. No premiere date or release window has been announced in the new project’s materials.

What Does Part 4 Mean?

Part 4 refers to the source novels’ story division. TO Books’ announcement identifies the next arc as 「貴族院の自称図書委員」, following Adopted Daughter of an Archduke. The new anime’s announcement does not assign it an English season number or official English subtitle. “Part 4” and “Royal Academy arc” identify the story being adapted without assuming how a future international release will label it.

The original novels are written by Miya Kazuki, with illustrations by You Shiina. TO Books says the franchise has surpassed 14 million copies in circulation, including digital editions. That is the publisher’s circulation figure for the franchise, rather than an anime audience count.

Where Does the Royal Academy Story Pick Up?

The official source-material synopsis starts with Rozemyne waking after roughly two years of sleep and enrolling at the Royal Academy as an archduke candidate. Her studies involve controlling mana, making magic tools and learning the magic needed to govern a duchy. Dormitory life brings her into contact with teachers and students from other duchies.

The academy also has a large library, which immediately competes with those duties for her attention. That is the premise outlined by the publisher; it does not establish which individual scenes or how many novel volumes the anime will cover. J-Novel Club’s Part 4 Volume 1 listing describes the same school setting for English-language novel readers.

How Does This Follow the Previous Anime?

The official notice explicitly confirms that WIT Studio will handle animation production again. The prior arc’s finale aired in Japan on October 3, according to Yomiuri TV’s final-episode listing. The continuation announcement therefore follows that arc’s ending, rather than announcing a remake of the earlier story.

The announcement card above uses artwork from Adopted Daughter of an Archduke alongside the new TV-anime confirmation. It does not show newly released Royal Academy animation.

What Is Still Unconfirmed?

The new project’s announcement names WIT Studio, but does not provide a full cast, director or other individual production staff. Their previous credits should not be treated as confirmed returning assignments.

It also leaves the premiere date, release month or year, episode count and international streaming plan open. A previous installment’s distribution does not by itself confirm Part 4 for Crunchyroll or another service. There is no dedicated Part 4 trailer in the announcement materials reviewed here.
