The Detective Is Already Dead Season 2 premieres October 7, 2026, following its postponement from July. Crunchyroll lists the same subtitle-premiere date across its announced regions, while the exact upload time remains TBA. Japan’s television schedule supplies several precise clocks; those are not interchangeable with Crunchyroll’s release time.

Why July is no longer the release window

The March 15 production notice moved Season 2 from July 2026 to October 2026, citing production circumstances. It did not identify a particular staffing, budget or outsourcing problem.

The current official website now narrows that replacement window to October 7. That is the active premiere date; the old July announcement describes the superseded plan.

Where Crunchyroll will stream it

Crunchyroll’s Fall 2026 lineup lists North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS and Southeast Asia. Its Season 2 entry gives October 7 for subtitles but still marks the clock “Time TBA.”

The separate English-dub announcement includes Season 2. A dub is announced, but a launch date and cast have not been verified; the lineup labels dub airtime TBA as well. Check your local Crunchyroll listing for regional availability and subsequent schedule changes.

What the Japanese broadcast times mean

The official on-air page lists these opening television slots, all in Japan Standard Time:

BroadcasterListed opening slotCalendar-day clarification
AT-XOctober 7, 21:30 JSTWednesday, October 7
TOKYO MXOctober 7, 22:30 JSTWednesday, October 7
BS Nippon TVOctober 7, 24:30 JSTThursday, October 8, at 00:30 JST

Japan’s d Anime Store begins October 7 at 22:00 JST, ahead of the terrestrial broadcast. Other listed Japanese services begin their sequential rollout from October 12 at 22:00 JST. These domestic arrangements do not establish an international simulcast clock. Converting TOKYO MX’s time into another timezone would still describe that Japanese broadcast, not an announced Crunchyroll upload.

Returning staff and the new cast

The official credits retain Manabu Kurihara as director, Deko Akao for series composition and scripts, Yosuke Ito for character design and ENGI for animation. 40mP and Yuyu compose the music.

The September 4 casting announcement adds Akari Komiyama as Mia Whitlock and Nobuhiko Okamoto as Scarlet. Those are Japanese voice assignments; they do not identify the upcoming English-dub cast.

The official third PV and October 5 visual

KADOKAWAanime released the third promotional video on September 4. The production’s announcement identifies previews of the opening and ending themes alongside the October 7 broadcast:

Crunchyroll’s October 5 update introduces a new key visual featuring Siesta and reiterates the return date. Promotional artwork does not establish episode order, adaptation coverage or a finale. The hero above is an earlier official Season 2 image supplied by BS Nippon TV, rather than that newly unveiled visual.

What the disc release establishes about episodes

The official three-volume Blu-ray/DVD plan covers episodes 1–13:

VolumeAnnounced contents
Volume 1Episodes 1–5
Volume 2Episodes 6–9
Volume 3Episodes 10–13

That is primary evidence for the planned package. The product pages also warn that specifications may change. It does not fix an uninterrupted weekly broadcast, a finale date or a guarantee that the anime adapts every remaining novel volume.
