Jason Statham's Mutiny Accidentally Leaked in Full on Prime Video Before Theatrical Release
The full 95-minute Jason Statham action thriller Mutiny briefly appeared on Prime Video in the U.S. on August 19, two days before its August 21 theatrical release.

Jason Statham’s new action thriller Mutiny suffered the kind of pre-release mistake studios spend years trying to prevent: the entire film briefly became available to watch on Prime Video in the United States before its theatrical opening.
The Verge reported on August 19 that Mutiny was available in full on Prime Video for at least an hour. The outlet did not rely on screenshots alone — its own Dominic Preston verified that all 1 hour and 35 minutes of the film could be played before the title was removed and changed to “unavailable.”
That happened two days before Mutiny’s scheduled August 21 theatrical release.
There is still no public explanation from Amazon for how the movie went live early. TheWrap reported that an insider attributed the incident to a mistake involving a Prime product detail page that would normally display trailers. Lionsgate, which is distributing the film in the United States, declined to comment to the outlet.
So while the early Prime Video availability itself is CONFIRMED, the precise chain of events behind the mistake has not been officially explained by Amazon or Lionsgate.
Deadline also reported that film buyers were angered by the situation, adding a business headache to an already unusual release-week incident.
Mutiny is directed by Jean-François Richet, whose previous credits include Plane. According to the film’s official website, Statham plays Cole Reed, who witnesses the murder of his billionaire boss, is framed for the crime and boards a cargo ship while trying to uncover an international conspiracy.
The screenplay is by Lindsay Michel and J.P. Davis, with Statham and Marc Butan producing. Annabelle Wallis, Roland Møller and Adrian Lester are among the principal cast listed by Lionsgate.
The film’s release plan has not changed as a result of the incident. Mutiny is still opening theatrically on August 21.
What makes the story notable is not simply that footage escaped early. An entire studio feature was briefly playable through a major streaming platform before its theatrical release, and a journalist was able to verify the complete runtime while it was still live. For a movie being marketed as a theatrical release, that is a significantly bigger failure than an early trailer upload or a stray clip appearing online.
