Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 Arrives in January 2027 — Season 3 Will Be the Last
Netflix has confirmed Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 for January 2027, with Mizu heading to London, while a third and final season is planned for 2028.

Netflix finally put a date on Mizu’s return — and quietly answered an even bigger question at the same time.
Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 will premiere in January 2027, with a new teaser revealed as part of Netflix’s Anime NYC 2026 lineup. The footage picks up with Mizu leaving Japan behind and pushing toward London, where the next part of her revenge story will unfold.
Netflix also confirmed that the show has already been renewed for a third and final season, planned for 2028. That means fans won’t have to spend another long stretch wondering whether Mizu’s story will actually get an ending.
According to Netflix’s official Tudum update, Season 2 takes Mizu’s search overseas as she hunts the two remaining men who might be her father. London brings new allies, old enemies and a very different world from the Edo-period Japan she knows.
The story back home isn’t being left behind either. Akemi and Taigen will be dealing with a dangerous new shogun at Edo Castle, while Ringo is trying to figure out what comes next for him.

Maya Erskine returns as Mizu, with Brenda Song back as Akemi, Darren Barnet as Taigen and Masi Oka as Ringo. Kenneth Branagh played Abijah Fowler in the first season, the man whose information sent Mizu toward London in the first place.
Creators Amber Noizumi and Michael Green remain at the center of the series as writers and executive producers, with Erwin Stoff also executive producing. Jane Wu continues as supervising director and producer.
The renewal is a strong show of confidence from Netflix. Season 1 arrived in November 2023 and went on to win four Emmys in 2024, including Outstanding Animated Program. The Television Academy also honored the series for character design, production design and storyboarding.
Netflix’s Anime NYC announcement says production on Season 3 is already moving forward, with the final season set to close out Mizu’s journey in 2028.
There is still no exact January premiere date for Season 2, but the bigger picture is now unusually clear for a streaming series: Mizu returns next year, and Netflix has already committed to letting the story reach its ending.
