Crimson Desert’s Charting the Unknown DLC launched on October 29, and Pearl Abyss now confirms a Mac App Store version too. But the accompanying five-hour trial covers only the Crimson Desert Enhanced base game. It does not include the new DLC.

That distinction matters if the ships, underwater exploration or new storylines brought you back to Pywel. The trial lets newcomers sample the underlying game; it is not a free five-hour pass to those additions.

What does Charting the Unknown add?

Pearl Abyss’ developer announcement describes separate new storylines for Kliff, Oongka and Damiane. Exploration expands into the ocean, with shipbuilding, sailing, diving, submerged ruins and new mounts.

The update also gives the characters more ways to settle into Pywel. Relationships can develop into romance and marriage, housing offers more control over construction, and certain liberated castles can become homes. Players can manage facilities such as restaurants and smithies, assigning comrades and equipment.

For a combat-focused return, Garden of Trials puts previously encountered bosses into a succession of fights. The official DLC overview presents exploration, character stories and management alongside the new threats; the expansion is not built around a single activity.

Who can play the five-hour trial?

The publisher’s launch FAQ gives different access rules by platform:

PlatformEligibilityAdvertised trial availability
XboxAll Xbox playersUntil January 7, 2027
PlayStationPlayStation Plus Premium or Deluxe subscribersUntil October 29, 2027

The allowance is five hours, once per account. Progress carries into the full game if you purchase it. The stated PlayStation requirement is Premium or Deluxe, so an Essential or Extra subscription alone is not the eligibility listed in this announcement.

Before downloading, check your regional platform listing and account eligibility. The FAQ’s dates describe how long the trial offer is advertised, not five hours of access to the expansion.

Is the DLC available on Mac?

Yes, according to Pearl Abyss’ October 29 launch notice. It directs Mac App Store players to the Buy DLC menu on the game’s title screen and advises updating the game before playing.

An older note on the general DLC landing page still says it would not be available on the Mac App Store at launch. The later, specifically dated Mac announcement provides the updated information, while warning that Mac updates may arrive slightly later than on other platforms.

Regional availability also needs care. An October 30 Saudi Arabia notice confirms regulatory approval and preparations for digital purchase, rather than confirming every local storefront was already live.

For another recent fantasy release with a separate way to try it, our Queen’s Domain launch guide covers its Steam demo and confirmed platforms.
