An unannounced Epic Games shooter involving Disney properties has reportedly slipped from an internal March 2027 target while its developers are directed toward an AI-first workflow. The game details and delay originate with Bloomberg’s October 12 reporting. Epic’s public response confirms an AI development push, without announcing the shooter or a replacement release date.

What the report says about the game

The Verge’s account of Bloomberg’s reporting describes a shooter involving Marvel and Star Wars characters. It also reports instructions for developers to use AI tools for code and artwork, including Anthropic’s Claude.

PC Gamer describes the March 2027 date as an internal target and the delay as indefinite. That distinction matters: this is reporting about an unpublished production schedule, rather than the postponement of a release date previously offered to players.

The reported workflow instructions likewise do not establish that Epic has publicly shown or shipped the finished game’s AI-generated art. No official title, platform list or revised launch window accompanies the accounts checked for this story.

What Epic has acknowledged

An Epic spokesperson told Bloomberg that the company is “embracing AI-accelerated development,” a response reproduced by Ars Technica and The Verge. Epic framed its developers as the creative drivers of that work.

PC Gamer also reports Tim Sweeney’s public comments about moving developers between teams to accelerate AI adoption. Those remarks corroborate the company-wide direction; they are not a formal reveal of the reported Disney shooter.

The partnership that Disney and Epic did announce

The companies’ February 2024 announcement described an Unreal Engine-powered entertainment universe connected to Fortnite. Its planned scope included opportunities to play, watch and create with Disney properties.

Disney also announced a planned $1.5 billion equity investment, explicitly subject to closing conditions. That original document is evidence of the announced arrangement, rather than independent proof of the transaction’s subsequent completion.

The broad connected-universe project and the specific shooter described in the new reporting should not be treated as interchangeable products. The checked public statements do not resolve their precise relationship or announce cancellation of the wider collaboration.

Readers should also distinguish this Epic project from Frontier’s separately announced Disney management game. They involve different developers and different announced plans.

The practical release answer is therefore no publicly confirmed date for the reported shooter. An internal target is not a release-calendar commitment; further verified developments will appear in our gaming news coverage.
