A fifth Halloweentown movie is in early development at Disney Channel and Disney+, according to TheWrap’s October 22 report. Lily Houghton and Ryan Koehn are writing the script, using the characters created by Paul Bernbaum.

A script assignment is an early step; it does not establish a greenlit production or filming schedule.

Are Kimberly J. Brown or Sara Paxton returning?

Neither actor’s return is confirmed in the report. Kimberly J. Brown played Marnie Piper in the first three films. Sara Paxton took over the role in Return to Halloweentown, which Disney dates to October 20, 2006.

TheWrap does not identify a director, plot or returning cast.

Does Halloweentown 5 have a release date?

No release date or filming timetable is given. A 2027 or 2028 premiere would be speculation.

Disney Channel and Disney+ are the outlets named in the development report. Territory-specific release arrangements and streaming availability for the proposed film remain unannounced.

Which films came before it?

Disney’s official pages document four earlier movies:

FilmOriginal release date listed by Disney
HalloweentownOctober 17, 1998
Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s RevengeOctober 12, 2001
Halloweentown HighOctober 8, 2004
Return to HalloweentownOctober 20, 2006

The original introduces Marnie discovering her magical heritage and entering a town inhabited by supernatural creatures. By the fourth film, she is attending Witch University. Those are the existing films’ premises, not an announced storyline for the new project.

The image above comes from Disney’s 1998 film gallery. It shows Brown’s Marnie with Debbie Reynolds’ Aggie Cromwell and should not be mistaken for new production photography. For anyone revisiting the films, check the current service listings in your country; historical Disney movie pages do not establish identical streaming access everywhere.
