Magneto: End of Days is an eight-issue prestige comic series by writer Brian Michael Bendis, artist Andrea Sorrentino and colorist Dave Stewart. Marvel lists the first issue for February 3, 2027, in the US comic market. The publisher revealed the project around New York Comic Con and shared its first covers in an October 10 announcement.

The series approaches Magneto through different moments in his life, moving between past, present and future. Its title and the death imagery on Sorrentino’s first cover establish a foreboding tone; Marvel’s early reveal leaves the outcome of the story open.

What is Magneto: End of Days about?

Marvel describes issues set in different eras of Magneto’s history, including a near-future perspective. That gives the book a broader scope than a single confrontation with the X-Men: it can examine the character’s choices across his life and the consequences those choices might leave behind.

Who is making the eight-issue series?

The announced core team is:

  • Brian Michael Bendis — writer.
  • Andrea Sorrentino — artist and main-cover artist.
  • Dave Stewart — colorist.

Marvel identifies the project as an eight-issue prestige series. That describes the announced format and length, while final issue listings will supply the remaining purchase details and schedule.

The first reveal also includes variant artwork by Alex Maleev, Jerome Opeña and Netho Diaz, corroborated by AIPT’s covers report. Readers interested in a particular cover should check the eventual retailer listing for that edition rather than assuming every displayed image is the standard cover.

What does the first cover show?

Marvel’s announcement shows Cover A by Andrea Sorrentino. Its red and black profile combines Magneto’s recognizable helmet with a skull, set against a grey field. The sparse composition ties the character directly to the title’s suggestion of an ending.

That is promotional artwork for the actual announced issue. It gives readers a concrete look at the project’s visual identity, but the skull motif does not confirm Magneto’s death or reveal the final issue’s resolution. The title likewise should not be treated as a completed plot synopsis.

When does issue #1 arrive?

Marvel’s announcement lists February 3, 2027 for Magneto: End of Days #1. That is the advertised US comic-market on-sale date, subject to the usual possibility of schedule changes. The reveal does not establish simultaneous availability in every country or language.

A full eight-issue release calendar, collected-edition date and verified international editions have not been established in the checked announcement material.

How does it relate to Magneto’s screen appearances?

This announcement concerns a Marvel comic, with its own creators and life-spanning premise. Marvel mentions Magneto’s separate Avengers: Doomsday appearance in its promotional context, but does not announce a shared plot or an adaptation relationship for End of Days.

Readers familiar with the animated character can use our X-Men ’97 characters and powers guide for background on that version of Magneto. It contains spoilers for the show and covers animated continuity; it is not a reading prerequisite for this new comic.
