Apple TV has released the first trailer for Nocturne, a 10-episode crime drama starring Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz and Stephen Graham. It premieres globally on Friday, October 30, 2026, with two episodes, then continues weekly through December 25. The series draws on crime novels by Lars Kepler; its title and source book The Sandman are unrelated to the Neil Gaiman/DC fantasy property.

When Does Nocturne Premiere on Apple TV?

The first two episodes arrive October 30, 2026, on Apple TV. Apple says one new episode follows each Friday, with the 10-episode season ending December 25. This is a weekly release, not a full-season drop. Apple describes the premiere as global, though viewers should check their local Apple TV availability and release time.

What Is Nocturne About?

According to Apple’s official synopsis, Jonah Lynn is a former soldier and Philadelphia homicide detective who moves to a small town in western Pennsylvania for a quieter life. A serial killer, Jurek Walter, disrupts that plan and threatens Jonah’s family and community. Jonah draws on the help of Saga Bauer, an FBI agent and his surrogate daughter, in the search for Jurek’s last missing victim.

The trailer presents the investigation and the three central characters, but it does not establish the full sequence of crimes or reveal the outcome. This guide avoids story details from the novels that Apple has not confirmed for the adaptation.

Apple also lists Bill Camp, Rory Culkin, Chrissy Metz, Poorna Jagannathan and Gary Carr in the cast. Its trailer announcement does not assign those performers character names, so those roles remain unlisted here.

Which Books Is Nocturne Based On?

Apple’s September trailer announcement highlights Lars Kepler’s The Sandman as the source. Its earlier series announcement names The Sandman and Lazarus. Both are crime novels in Kepler’s Joona Linna series. Apple has not specified how much material from either book appears on screen. This Sandman is not Neil Gaiman’s DC comic or its Netflix adaptation.

Who Made the Series?

Rowan Joffé created Nocturne for television and shares co-showrunner duties with John Hlavin, who developed the series for television. Both are writers and executive producers. Tim Van Patten directs the first two episodes and executive produces. Apple says A+E Studios produces the series in association with Range Studios.

The official Apple TV trailer and Apple’s series announcement are the sources for the current release plan. Casting, schedule and availability may change; this page will be updated against Apple’s announcements.
