The Ghost of Tsushima: Legends anime is now scheduled for 2028, a year later than its previously announced 2027 window. Crunchyroll’s October 9 report confirms the change following its New York Comic Con panel. There is no exact premiere date yet.

The update also brings two cast announcements and new music and sound credits. Producer HAYATE’s own statement says the anime is in active production for 2028.

What changed from the original announcement?

Crunchyroll’s January 7, 2025 announcement gave the anime a 2027 premiere on its service. The current announcement replaces that year with 2028. Neither announcement supplies a fixed premiere day, and the new statements do not explain the cause of the shift.

The NYCC panel took place on October 8 in New York. Crunchyroll’s news report and HAYATE’s update are dated October 9; those dates describe the announcement, not the anime’s release.

Who is in the cast and production team?

Mayumi Saco and Shinya Fukumatsu have joined the cast, but their characters have not been identified. Saco voiced Tomoe in the original game. That earlier credit does not confirm Tomoe as her anime role.

Takanobu Mizuno directs at Kamikaze Douga. Gen Urobuchi handles series composition and co-writes the script with Renji Oki. The additional staff are Keiji Inai for music, Yoshikazu Iwanami for sound direction, Yasumasa Koyama for sound effects and Gyousyou Suzuki for title calligraphy.

HAYATE produces the anime, with Aniplex and PlayStation Productions involvement; Sony Music is the music and soundtrack partner. These credits describe separate production responsibilities: HAYATE is the producer, while Kamikaze Douga makes the animation.

Which game is the anime adapting?

The production is based on the Ghost of Tsushima: Legends multiplayer experience associated with Sucker Punch’s original game. The production press release reproduced by Famitsu describes a story involving the Mongol invasion of Tsushima and mysterious warriors who return from the underworld.

This is a different project from Ghost of Yōtei: Most Wanted. That is a game mode; its playable-character lineup does not establish the anime’s cast or story.

Is there a public trailer, and where will it stream?

The production press release says the first anime footage was shown exclusively to NYCC panel attendees ahead of a wider release. No original public upload of that screening has been verified, so there is no trailer embed here.

Crunchyroll remains the announced exclusive streaming home. An episode count, language or dub rollout, country-specific availability and exact premiere date have not been announced in the checked sources. For a separate game-to-anime adaptation, our Sekiro: No Defeat guide explains its own confirmed format and release plans.
